CLIENT

A local gutter cleaning business located in Summit County.  They focus 100% on gutter cleaning.

SCOPE

Redesign an existing 1 page WordPress site.  The site wasn’t converting and showing the level of professionalism the company embraces.

PROCESS

Research

US Dept of Gutters focuses solely on gutter cleaning.  Competitors offer multiple services: snow removal, glass cleaning & restoration and bird prevention.  Competitor websites are simple and look to contain just HTML.  Using WordPress will be an easy way to elevate the online experience.  

Researched 3 main user personas to refer back to while making design decisions.  User Journeys were created for the main call to action – Getting a Free Estimate.

Stakeholder meetings to determine what message the owner wants to convey to his potential clients. 

Branding

A logo was already created so all imagery and design choices were based on the existing color palette.  Since this is the first version of the website a Branding Style Guide was created to keep consistency as the brand grows. 

Visual Design

This theme provided demo content allowing us to focus on the business message rather than creating the design from scratch.

Development

I customized the Moto theme using HTML, CSS & PHP to implement the necessary functions and sourced plugins that allowed the client to make changes to the verbiage and general branding.

LESSONS

This was a really easy and quick project since I was given full creative control and the copy was provided.  We discussed future projects to market this business and grow it’s footprint.  Focusing on creating content to educate the consumer on the company blog.
