Keep distance between you and your creations. That way it’s unemotional when someone likes or hates what you’re working on. Also, when inspired don’t wait take action right away and get it on paper.
I love the idea of having a Creative “Genius” always around to help you. This is also a way to separate from your work. If you show up and do your job then it’s not your fault that Genius isn’t pulling their weight.
HOW TO IMPLEMENT
Don’t be afraid and be stubborn and keep showing up. There is a reason you enjoy doing this. Also, tell your genius to come back if you are unable to act immediately. Or perhaps that particular project wasn’t meant to be.
WHERE I HEARD ABOUT IT
I really enjoy Elizabeth Gilbert and had searched to see if she had any Ted Talks. I was glad to find one that didn’t focus on Eat, Pray, Love. Don’t get me wrong I found that book inspiring in some parts but my favorite book of hers is Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear.
